YA
Through e-mails (with slang that will quickly become outdated), journal entries, and creative writing assignments, high school sophomore Sara chronicles her friendships, her abusive past, and her adjustment to her latest foster home. The problems are laid on a bit too thickly, especially with the manipulative, melodramatic denouement, but Sara is a believable character and by novel's end begins to come to grips with her past.
