The first half of the book tells how Mary Poppins and her friends help the children do the cooking for a week while their parents are away; the second half contains recipes. Ardent Mary Poppins fans will enjoy the story and its veddy British recipes (jam tarts, shepherd's pie, Yorkshire pudding, etc.), though traditionalists may be opposed to the colorized illustrations. Ind.
