Mozart meets a composition deadline by using a melody sung by his pet starling, Miss Bimms, whom he has to chase through Vienna, gaining orchestral suggestions from the sounds along the way. Miss Bimms returns to her owner during the concert a week later. Cotton-candy-colored illustrations suit this whimsy, though all the characters look similar with reddened cheeks and nose tips.
