Short, playful verses describe the many characteristics of dogs: "Nobody's naggier than a dog-- / a slurp-your-face dog, / a let's-play-chase dog," etc. The text has a cumulatively tedious quality, but the flat, bold illustrations are seductive and feature a running gag about a dachshund chasing a cat and then trying to elude a dogcatcher.
