A spare rhyming and counting text tells two simultaneous bedtime stories, as a group of boys prepare for a backyard sleepover and some industrious squirrels gather food. How the two groups interact (the boys' leftover snacks are carried off by the hungry squirrels) is cleverly conveyed in the full-page oil paintings, which mostly tell the story from the squirrels' perspective.
