These eight princess stories are fluently written and reasonably representative. The illustrations are notable--generous selections from over two dozen artists, from Walter Crane to Jessie Willcox Smith. Yet this bounty will easily confuse most young readers; there are, for example, more than eighteen different visual representations of Cinderella in this book that is more for collectors than children.
