(4) K-3 Illustrated by Eric Puybaret. Peter (Yarrow), Paul, and Mary's familiar song isn't a natural fit for a picture book. The lyrics' dreamlike images seem strange when read aloud, and the repeated refrain ("Puff, the magic dragon, lived by the sea / And frolicked in the autumn mist...") falls flat. Fans of the song may enjoy losing themselves in the fanciful illustrations while listening to the enclosed CD.
