Gigot's imaginative illustrations move from muted grays to bright pinks and purples. There are nods to some of Bowie's most well-known songs; in one spread, young David appears as many of his personas and roles: "His imagination ran wild. He was a pirate, a duke, an astronaut, a goblin king." An author's note provides the facts of Bowie's childhood, and a bulleted list offers information about Bowie's career and accomplishments.
