4-6Keys to the Kingdom series.
Arthur continues his unwilling quest for the fantasy-realm Keys while struggling to retain his diminishing humanity and defuse a real-world nuclear threat. Nix's construction is endlessly--but sometimes overwhelmingly--inventive, the wealth of detail impressive but not always in service to the story. Nevertheless, the Alice-in-Wonderland sensibilities of this unpredictable tale should appeal to fans of outside-the-box fantasy.
