One by one, the hungry farm animals wait for Farmer Jones to bring them supper; and he does, one at a time. Successive double-page spreads showcase each animal, while the text provides the appropriate animal noises--a must for toddlers. Timelessly simple (a far cry from Scarry's later work) and effective (though Mrs. Jones in her apron does date the book a bit).
