This send-up of old school primers--complete with flat, repetitive prose and simple stick-figure illustrations--follows the Hocky family as they move to the country. Each brief episode comes to a sharply ironic conclusion, with the punch line often evident only in the art. Though the book's retro design and deadpan humor will appeal to adults, kids will probably take it all happily at face value.
