The Maldonado Miracle

(4) 4-6 Jose, a twelve-year-old Mexican, is smuggled across the border to join his father in the United States. He works briefly as a migrant laborer, then inadvertently causes a media sensation when a mishap at a church (he drips blood on a religious icon) is later perceived as a miracle by the public. The bifurcated plot and an omniscient prose style that delves into thoughts of various characters blur the focus of this novel.
