Hope's brother Warren, who recognized her "kidnappers" from the last book, has been sent by his mother to get Hope back. The action is as suspenseful as in the previous volumes, and the resolutions to the story's many mysteries are hard won, though a bit creepy. The book is a nuanced and open-ended tale of sacrifice, redemption, and forgiveness.
