The Paper Cowboy

(2) 4-6 Twelve-year-old Tommy wants to be a cowboy. That's not so easy, though, in 1950s Downers Grove, Illinois. After he plays a prank that ends up costing the local grocery store owner his business, a remorseful Tommy goes about becoming a different kind of cowboy--one "who stands up for others." Themes of bullying, community, and growing up in a dysfunctional family are explored sensitively.
