A little boy has just lost his mother "this morning." The portrayal of childhood grief and healing is authentic, albeit via a very adult articulation. Although the absence of religious comfort in favor of the dead parent being "in your heart" is notable, it's hard to know who this book might be for. Simple pencil and red acrylic illustrations suit the single-minded text.
