The Schoolchildren's Blizzard

(4) 4-6 Graphic Library: Disasters in History series. Illustrated by Dave Hoover & Richard Dominguez. This comics-format book gives an account of the 1888 prairie blizzard that claimed the lives of nearly five hundred people, mostly children. Though the book does provide a glimpse into nineteenth-century prairie life, more information (e.g., better explanation of weather tracking at the time) would have made the narrative less confusing. A few additional facts about the blizzard are appended. Reading list. Bib., glos., ind.
