Illustrated by
Paul O. Zelinsky.
The curiously flat Shivers family lives in a dark, frigid world where frequent earthquakes are accompanied by bright light and monster hands. At least they have one another and their warm dreams. When the Shivers search for warmth, one by one they're carried off. Zelinsky's obvious delight in illustrating Manushkin's mock drama about a family of refrigerator magnets is infectious.
