Three tales featuring adventurers, "Jack and the Beanstalk," "The Steadfast Tin Soldier," and "Tom Thumb," are serviceably, though blandly, retold here. The cartoony illustrations are appropriate for the tales, but some of the illustrations are inconsistent with the text (Jack's mother is still dressed in rags even after the text says that they could "live in luxury"). No source notes are provided.
