After Ellie's parents are arrested for growing marijuana, the FBI offers her a deal: infiltrate and inform on the Mother Earth Defenders, an ecoterrorist group. She reluctantly agrees but remains conflicted about the group's cause, including how far they must go to be heard. Though the story's premise is highly implausible, ecological-minded readers will be sucked in by the action.
