PSThingy Things series.
Four small square books each present the title character and a simple plot ("Whaley Whale is hiding," "Sluggy Slug won't go," etc.) with just a few simple words and Raschka's deftly minimal paintings. While the publisher claims these are for beginning readers, there's not much to interest a five- or six-year-old, but the developmental level seems right for two-year-olds.
