When Ben needs reassurance from scary night noises, older brother Alex bravely makes the journey across the cold, ominously shadowed floor from his bed to Ben's. The story is nicely shaped--beginning and ending with quiet and lots of night noises in between--and the muted watercolor illustrations are well focused, concentrating on the boys' expressions and on the imagined perils of a nighttime bedroom.
