What's the Most Beautiful Thing You Know about Horses?

(3) K-3 Illustrated by George Littlechild. Refreshingly un-didactic, Van Camp's playful text has the half-Indian, half-white narrator asking his family and friends about horses, something Dogrib Indians in the Northwest Territories don't have a lot of experience with. Colorful mixed-media illustrations that incorporate photos of the narrator's family and friends are a good match for the text, which uses both lyrical and pragmatic comments about horses to create a conversational, informal prose poem.
