K-3Let's-Read-and-Find-Out Science series.
Illustrated by
Steve Jenkins.
This book is filled with clear explanations of worms, their habits, and their habitats. Pfeffer takes an ecological perspective, relating worms' activities to their effects on the environment. The concluding activities--to observe worms and conduct simple soil quality experiments--are important because Jenkins's cut-paper illustrations, while lovely, include only a few anatomical details (and none of internal organs).
