Their easy camaraderie reminds them of many common food pairings (mac and cheese, flapjacks and syrup) and some less familiar (cherries and cream). Sunny pencil and digitally colored illustrations--anthropomorphized food pictures on beige backgrounds, the kids picnicking on lots of white space--highlight the gentle mood.
