Horn Book Herald: February 2025

For such a short month, February can be very busy. We’re excited to have in hand advance copies of the March/April 2025 issue of The Horn Book Magazine preview it! — and are hard at work on our annual themed May/June special issue (subscribe). Last week brought February’s Notes from the Horn Book, featuring Five Questions for Amy Cherrix, to your inbox. And no need to adjust your screens: due to a quirk in the calendar around the ALA Youth Media Awards, this is the second issue of the Herald this month. Our daily coverage of Black History Month continues, along with the recommendations below — and, as the month wraps up, with the reminder that Black history and excellence are to be recognized and celebrated beyond this shortest month and all year round.
