(4) YA Fifteen-year-old Kate Sterling struggles with the hate she feels for Zeke Dexter, the man who killed her mother in an automobile accident. A violent blizzard results in Zeke's being stranded with the Sterling family, and Kate must face her own guilt and the decision whether or not to move on with her life. Despite a predictable and overlong plot, the novel provides authentic dialogue and a realistic sense of its 1941 North Dakota setting.
