Topical instead of linear, the sections are busy but still well organized. Full-color photographs, models, and graphs with accompanying introductions and captions accessibly explain these ancient civilizations. Ind.

The busy pages feature carefully selected photographs of artifacts, along with detailed drawings and diagrams, which are supported by readable captions. Slightly dogmatic introductions precede ten chapters, which range from the invention of tools to prehistoric animals. Ind.
