(2) YA Bedard conveys the social circumstances and political upheavals of Blake's lifetime (1757–1827) while initiating readers into the style and taste of the period and giving meaningful access to the language and imagery of Blake's work. Bedard's sedate, even prose helps tether and validate Blake's grand schema of the world and heaven. This is a demanding work that stands to deepen and enhance any teenager's interest in its subject.
