Children of Exile series.
When hostile aliens invade Earth, thirteen-year-old Kiandra (Edwy's older sister from Children of Refuge) and her brothers are sent to a prison planet. There Kiandra must deal with the annoyingly sunny viewpoints of alien-raised children like Rosi (from Children of Exile), while trying to escape and save their home. A slow plot doesn't quite match the high stakes of this trilogy.

Children of Exile series.
Raised in the (alien) foster community Fredtown (with Rosi from Children of Exile), smart-talking twelve-year-old Edwy has only just met his birth parents. But then he's shipped off to Refuge City, where he meets an older brother and sister and struggles to reconcile the Freds' peaceful teachings with the harsh reality of Earth. This second installment challenges easy notions of right and wrong.

Children of Exile series.
Twelve-year-old Rosi is one of the happy children raised by the Freds of Fredtown, a foster community she and others were brought to as infants for safekeeping. But now they're thrilled to finally return home and meet their biological parents--at least they were thrilled. Suspenseful classic-sci-fi elements will keep readers guessing until the series-starter's revelatory twist ending.
