In this fairy-tale/monster mash-up, Ever After High's Apple, Raven, and Maddie team up with Monster High's Draculaura and Frankie Stein and narrator Brooke. Their mission: protect the World of Stories by stopping the Evil Queen from unlocking the power inside Shadow High. The climax includes a clunky Choose-Your-Own-Adventure element, but fans of both series will nevertheless gobble up this light and pun-filled read.

(4) 4-6 Ever After High series. In the latest fairy-tale school story, long-locked blogger and aspiring author Holly O'Hair looks forward to fulfilling her mother Rapunzel's legacy. However, when Holly's hair shortens and her short-haired twin Poppy's hair grows like gangbusters, Holly wonders if fate has other plans. Readers not distracted by the overly decorated pages will find that the series' fairy-tale-themed clichés and puns make way for honest problem-solving.

(4) 4-6 Ever After High series. This second book is infused with the same bubbly fairy-tale language, characters, and fantasy settings of The Storybook of Legends. Here, Raven Queen must deal with the fall-out from her Legacy Day decision, and a fellow student's threatened banishment brings everyone together to protect their wrongly accused friend. The twee prose isn't for everyone, but this lively tale will satisfy series fans.

(3) 4-6 Ever After High series. Raven Queen and Apple White, the daughters of famous fairy-tale characters, begin their much-anticipated Legacy Year at Ever After High. They investigate the mystery of a lost story, and Raven realizes that being evil might not be her only path. Fans of the Inkheart and Sisters Grimm series will enjoy the "hexellent" fairy-tale-infused lingo and lively characters.
