Poetry for Young People series.
Illustrated by
Henri Sorensen.
After an introduction that emphasizes Frost's New England roots, his early struggles to support himself and his family, and the universality of his poems, Schmidt presents twenty-nine Frost favorites, divided into sections by the four seasons; each has a brief explanatory note providing context and aiding readers' engagement with the poem. Like Frost's poetry, Sorensen's earthy paintings evoke the natural world. Ind.

Illustrated by
Rebecca Gibbon.
The author of A Restless Spirit draws on that fuller biography for a picture book focused on the pivotal years (1900–12) when Frost lived in Derry, New Hampshire. Skillfully, Bober introduces Frost's idiosyncrasies along with his gifts and frequently incorporates lines from Frost's poems. Gibbon's acrylic, pencil, and watercolor art captures the era's essence. A fine introduction to Frost.

People to Know Today series.
All five of these biographers write about their subjects in glowing terms. With the exception of Frost, the books offer limited, anecdote-heavy information. Many photographs, sidebars, and pull-out quotes support the texts, and their clean design makes the chronologies easy to follow. Reading list, timeline, websites. Ind. Review covers these People to Know Today titles: Laura Bush, J.K. Rowling, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Robert Frost, and George W. Bush.
