You Choose: Ancient Greek Myths series.
Illustrated by
Nadine Takvorian.
These two decent adaptations of Greek myths rely on a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure format, which encourages multiple read-throughs to follow the different story paths. This makes for some abrupt transitions, though, as you skip past parts of each myth. Both books include serviceable sepia-toned illustrations. Reading list. Bib., glos., ind. Review covers these You Choose: Ancient Greek Myths titles: Olympians vs. Titans and Hades and the Underworld.

Secrets of the Ancient Gods series.
Illustrated by
J. E. Larson.
Hades takes us on a tour of the Underworld, pointing out the famous mythological figures found there, many suffering punishments. He begins by describing ancient Greek funeral rites before moving on to the different areas of the House of Hades. The pen-and-ink illustrations lend an appropriately gloomy look to the book, but Shecter's attempts at humorous dialogue fall flat. Bib., glos., ind.

Heroes in Training series.
Providing a new take on the Greek myth of the rise of the Olympians and fall of the Titans, these lighthearted chapter books focus on the titular gods' journeys of self discovery. Accompanied by Zeus and Hera, Poseidon and Hades discover their true roles as gods. The books' humorous approach will appeal to younger readers, as will the cartoonlike black-and-white illustrations. Review covers these Heroes in Training titles: Hades and the Helm of Darkness and Poseidon and the Sea of Fury.

Olympians series.
The fourth book in this series relates the major myth about the Greek god of the Underworld, in which Hades kidnaps and marries Demeter's daughter, Persephone. This graphic novel's lively format brings a modern sensibility to the ancient myth and makes it accessible to a wide audience. The author's notes and character biographies provide additional information. Reading list. Bib.
