Rosenberry pitches the everyday as both simple and dramatic. When Vera outgrows her tricycle, her parents refurbish her sister's old bike. Though she hasn't learned to stop, Vera sets off on a solo trip around the school yard one evening and must muster her courage to stop on her own when she wants to go home. Rosenberry gives the gently caricatured Vera expressions appropriate to the situations.
