A Fiddle for Angus

(4) K-3 Illustrated by Susan Tooke. Young Angus is the only member of a family of traditional musicians who doesn't play an instrument. When he expresses a wish to play, his family buys him a fiddle, and he is surprised by the screeches it emits before he takes lessons. Although the slight plot is rather easily resolved in this gentle story, acrylic illustrations with impressive detail make the Nova Scotia setting vivid.
