Captain Invincible and the Space Shapes

(4) K-3 MathStart series. Illustrated by Remy Simard. In the middle of the night, Sam pretends to be Captain Invincible guiding his spaceship through many galactic dangers by pressing control-panel buttons shaped like geometric solids. The story's comic-book format and bold illustrations will draw in young readers, but its math tie-in (names of three-dimensional shapes) is too heavy-handed. Follow-up activities are included.
