OLDER FICTION
MacCullough, Carolyn

Falling through Darkness

(2) YA Everyone thinks seventeen-year-old Ginny is mourning the death of her boyfriend, Aidan, in the car accident only she survived. But we learn that Ginny's emotions are more complicated, her predominant emotion being anger toward Aidan, who in fact drove off the bridge on purpose. MacCullough's promising first novel is saved from formula by virtue of her prose (restrained but compelling) and characterization (assured and specific).
