Hector's Shell

(3) K-3 After searching unsuccessfully for his lost shell at the beach, Hector the turtle attempts--also unsuccessfully--to make a substitute from objects such as a boot and a bucket. Finally, he remembers he hid it himself inside his sandcastle. Humorous commentary about "the shell fiasco" makes this silly story enjoyable, as do the quirky illustrations, which feature creative use of both thought and speech balloons.
