The Outlaw

(2) K-3 In this trope-upending Western, a frontier town has formerly been terrorized by an "Outlaw." A newly arrived stranger quietly begins repairing the town until someone recognizes him as the Outlaw. After a young thief (who had been rehabilitated by the stranger) speaks up for him, he's permitted to stay and make amends. The illustrations--ink and grayscale watercolors with an intriguing newspaper-transfer technique--pairs well with the spare, contemplative text.
