You Throw like a Girl

(4) 4-6 With Dad deployed overseas, Gabby's spending the summer in her grandmother's Midwestern town, where most girls compete in the annual beauty pageant. In order to please Mom, a three-time Miss Popcorn, Gabby agrees to train for it. But she really wants to play baseball, so she also pretends to be a boy. This mildly entertaining middle-school read is light on baseball and long on beauty pageantry.
