Dual timelines carry readers through the characters' finely drawn romance (and its dissolution) and Griffin's heartbreaking journey through the grieving process; both narratives are informed by Griffin's struggles with obsessive-compulsive disorder. Silvera's prose is raw but lyrical, a good fit for Griffin's intensity.
