K-3
Illustrated by
David McPhail.
Two bears, a father and cub, practice their clown act in the circus. In the first story, the cub juggles a dog, two cats, and a ham, while in the second, Dad's bike gets a flat during a run-in with the circus lion. Each page has one short, easy sentence, leaving the pictures to fill in the details; however, in at least one instance the story doesn't make sense. Fine ink markings add definition to McPhail's comic watercolors.
