In Riders, the four horsemen of the apocalypse (War, Conquest, Famine, Death) were reborn into a diverse quartet of contemporary teens for the fight against evil archenemy Kindred. In this sequel, outsider Daryn hopes her visions will help her rescue Sebastian (Famine) from another dimension; meanwhile, she's romantically involved with Gideon (War). Despite a busy, sometimes-confusing plot, Rossi's dialogue is sharp and the story's conclusion is redemptive.

Eighteen-year-old Army Ranger Gideon Blake almost dies in a parachuting accident. Somehow, he lives on--with super-healing powers. A mysterious girl, Daryn, informs Gideon he's one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse (War), who, along with the other horsemen (Conquest, Famine, and Death), must protect the world from nefarious villains. Fast-paced military action and an awkward romance drive this series-starter.

Aria and Perry (Through the Ever Night) negotiate the limited options to bring those under their leadership to the safety of the Aether-storm-free Still Blue. Perry's conflict over the fate of powerful Cinder and the necessities for the group's survival, as well as Aria's discovery of her father, keep relationships at the forefront of this trilogy-ender's high-stakes action.

In this sequel to Under the Never Sky, Aria continues to struggle with the harsh elements, her own developing supernatural powers, and her difficult romance with outsider Perry. While the balance of steamy romance and scrambling to survive is occasionally awkward, Perry and Aria are convincing protagonists as they both cling to and exploit each other to get through their days.

Aria lives in an enclosed city filled with virtual-reality spaces, but when she is exiled to the outside wasteland, she goes from lazy and soft to survivalist razor-edged in a smooth leap. Rossi's world is creatively and lavishly developed, and Aria is a memorable protagonist, battling her own shortcomings with the same ferocity as she fights for the lives of those she loves.
