A narrator undertakes the onerous task of preparing her parents for bed. Readers will smilingly recognize the delay tactics ("Something unexpected always comes up. / Their favorite pillow is missing... Their socks itch"), and adults, too, will see themselves ("they are NOT to make phone calls when you leave the room"). Cole's artfully frowzy illustrations exploit the role reversal beautifully.

Father and daughter ponder what it would be like if they switched roles. Ultimately, as Dad envisions his day with "no washing, no cooking, no driving, no cleaning!" Daisy decides, "I think I'd rather still be me!" Although it's a switcheroo that's been done before in picture books, this volume's lively verse and watercolor caricatures do well by the funny premise.
