This rhyming text and dazzling close-up color photos of sea creatures isn't intended as a marine-life resource. The occasionally stilted rhymes, offset by fish's-eye views of sharks, coral, and other sea life, will probably succeed in sparking interest in the subject.

(3) K-3 Photographs by Norbert Wu & Norbert Wu. Summer in Antarctica means melting ice, baby penguins and seals, and an increasing supply of phytoplankton and algae--food for many creatures. The text is clear, about one paragraph per double-page spread, and the photographs provide wondrous glimpses into life on top of and below the ice. With engaging animals and amazing sea life, this book is a fine introduction to Antarctica for students.

Both books feature clear color photos and accurate diagrams. While the information is accessible, the text in Silkworm Moths isn't as focused as in other books in this series.
