Tough but dying, Aza has lived her life nearly unable to breathe--which turns out to be because she is really from Magonia, a flying civilization in the sky. The deliciously snarky voice that anchors the Earth sections of the book unfortunately gets diluted once Aza enters the fantasy world, which still manages to be creatively inventive.
