This captivating yarn set in a romantic, snowbound fortress takes place during a pseudo-Renaissance period. Escaping the police, robber Digger is rescued by nobles. Identifying herself as Celyn, daughter of a respectable jeweler, she's taken on as lady's maid but is soon blackmailed into spying on the family. The story is satisfyingly stuffed with plots, subplots, and death-defying feats.
