Marne's expecting her summer in Hawaii with her aunt's family to be paradise but is disappointed when she's confronted with the family's strict Hasidic lifestyle. Not surprisingly, over the course of the summer Marne learns to appreciate her relatives. Most of the characters are flat, but the vivid setting and Marne's believable struggle for understanding and acceptance partially compensate.
