Illustrated by
Georgia Graham.
Tyler is wearing a new pair of boots when he helps his uncle during the annual cattle drive. He can't understand why no one seems to notice his sparkling shoes, but he soon gets involved in the work of the round-up. The other cowhands finally compliment Tyler when his boots show the scars of a job well done. The story offers plenty of details about contemporary cow handling, and the paintings, though sometimes awkwardly rendered, set the stage for the text.
