(4) YA Lovegrove Legacy series. Supernaturally murdered debutantes threaten to ruin the social season for cousins Emma, Gretchen, and Penelope, especially when Emma is suspected. As the trio explores their witchcraft heritage and learns the secret rules of the Order, the girls manage to both dabble in romance and defeat an ancient evil. In this novel set in Regency London, Harvey's heroines are rather modern-minded, but paranormal-romance addicts won't mind.

(3) YA Lovegrove Legacy series. Cousins Gretchen, Emma, and Penelope continue their battle to thwart the Greymalkin Sisters' destruction of London in 1814. Additionally, the (somewhat modern-minded) heroines must control their supernatural powers and maintain their debutante social obligations while eluding the Keepers assigned to follow them. Gretchen, however, finds her Keeper, Tobias, surprisingly appealing. Romance, witchcraft, and social convention mingle intriguingly in this series.

(4) YA Drake Chronicles series. Vampire princess Solange's inability to control her bloodlust (and the sinister voice in her head) endangers her human boyfriend and best friend and sows unrest among the vampire factions. Meanwhile, her brother Nicolas is kidnapped by vampires with an unclear agenda. There's plenty of exciting action and romance, but little character development and few real answers make for a confusing series entry.

(4) YA When Eloise and best friend Jo meet two attractive fairy boys they find themselves caught up in a fairy war. The story is alternately narrated by the two girls, both of whom are full of witty sarcasm; secondary characters aren't as fleshed out. The plot is too fast paced to have much impact, but hot romances will make some readers swoon anyway.

(3) YA Violet's mother's séances are a sham, capitalizing on the spiritualism rage sweeping through Victorian England. The sixteen-year-old is therefore shocked to discover she really can see ghosts. Harvey's modern spin on the gothic novel features a feisty (and drop-dead gorgeous) heroine, an engaging mystery with supernatural underpinnings, and plenty of romance, with a penniless suitor pitted against a wealthy one.

If the change doesn't kill her, Solange's power-hungry relatives might in order to prevent her from becoming queen as prophesied. Her feisty best friend and an unlikely ally-turned-love-interest round out this kicky vampire coming-of-age adventure.
