Cat Lucy is a know-it-all. Toshi the panda does things differently from Lucy: he eats with chopsticks, plays "strange" music (on a lute), does yoga instead of gymnastics, etc. Lucy loses it ("That's NOT how you do it!") but comes around when Toshi makes her an origami crane, then offers to teach her how. Cute, candy-colored illustrations help overcome the story's obvious message.

When Ice's mother tells her they are moving to "an exciting land, far away," the young polar bear isn't pleased. Ice doesn't like the hot jungle, where she doesn't understand the language or the strange "fish" (a banana)--until her new classmates throw her a surprise party. The ending is abrupt, but the friendly, colorful art provides visual cues for the simple text.
